The Herald News Holiday Fund Delivers Record Donation to CFC Operation Christmas

Citizens for Citizens, Inc. (CFC) Operation Christmas and the Salvation Army each recently received a check in the amount of $11,306.16 from the 2010 Herald News Holiday Fund fundraising drive.

The Holiday Fund donation check was presented to Citizens for Citizens, Inc. by Andrea Griffin, the executive administrative assistant for advertising for The Herald News. The Holiday Fund is organized by Herald News staff members and supported each year by extensive coverage in the print and online versions of the newspaper. It was noted that the $23,000 raised by the 2010 holiday drive was a record amount, fueled by the generosity of area citizens and local businesses.

Donations received by the CFC Operation Christmas Program are used to purchase new toys that are distributed to local low-income families with children from infants to 12 years of age, as gifts from Santa Claus. Since 1975, the volunteers who continue to make Operation Christmas happen have been bringing a bit of holiday joy to thousands of disadvantaged Greater Fall River area children.
