CFC’s Operation Christmas Benefits From the 16th Annual Paul Morais Picnic

Paul Morais was an enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer for many years in the Citizens for Citizens, Inc. (CFC) Taunton Operation Christmas Program. Mr. Morais’ life was taken in a tragic accident sixteen years ago, but his family and friends continue to honor his memory and volunteer efforts by staging an Annual Paul Morais Picnic Day in Taunton to raise funds for the CFC Operation Christmas Program to use for distribution of gifts to needy children, along with donations to other charitable organizations in Paul’s memory.
This year’s Paul Morais Picnic was held on August 14 at the Portuguese American Civic Club (PACC) in Taunton.

There are almost twenty volunteer Picnic Team Members who did the preparation work for this event, which involves preparing the field, setting up tents and seating, along with cooking and distributing the delicious BBQ food. Adults were charged a ticket fee of $20 (which goes towards charitable donations) for all the hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and other side items that they and their children could eat. In addition to the barbequed burgers, hot dogs, and meat on a stick cooked over an open fire pit, there were raffles, prizes, and games for the kids.

A great time was had by all those who attended the picnic and the money that was donated will be utilized by CFC Operation Christmas (averaging $3000 per year from previous picnics) to purchase toys for the children of less fortunate families in the Taunton area.

Citizens for Citizens, Inc. is very appreciative of the continued strong support for Operation Christmas that is provided each year by the Annual Paul Morais Picnic Day.
