2011 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk

On September 18, an inspired team of six women representing Citizens for Citizens, Inc. set out to complete the 26.2-mile Boston Marathon Course by walking from Hopkinton to Boston to raise money for and awareness of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s mission of conquering cancer.

The Jimmy Fund was founded in 1948 to support the research in fighting cancer in children and adults done by the Boston-based Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The important research work done by the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is helping to increase the ability of patients worldwide to survive cancer.

The CFC Jimmy Fund Walk Team completed the entire course in just over eight hours of steady walking, finishing in a weary but triumphant fashion, raising a total of $2,625. Team members included CFC employees, along with CFC employee family members and supporters. The successful team members were  Team Captain:Monica Trial, Madeleine Cormier, Jennifer Fallon, Cheryl White, Rolande Sullivan, and Karen Langevin.

The 2011 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk broke the previous fund raising record, with over 8500 walkers raising more than $9.5 million.

Citizens for Citizens Enrolling Families for Operation Christmas 2011

Citizens for Citizens Fall River office at 264 Griffin Street is currently enrolling eligible families for its 2011 Operation Christmas Program.

For more than 35 years CFC has provided toys to families with children ages birth to 12 years old with toys for Christmas.

CFC Head Start Program Now Registering Students for 2011-2012 School Year

The Citizens for Citizens Inc. (CFC) Head Start Program is currently enrolling children who are: Three years old (by September, 2011) through age five, from families who meet income requirements.

The Head Start Program is a free child development program that provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition and social services. The primary goal of Head Start is to increase a child’s effectiveness in dealing with everyday life and later responsibilities in school and life.

Head Start also provides many opportunities for parents to become involved in the program, and to improve their own education and employment potential. The Head Start Program welcomes children with disabilities and accepts Child Care vouchers. The CFC Head Start Program serves the city of Fall River, and the towns of Somerset, Swansea, Westport, Freetown, Dighton, Rehoboth, Seekonk, Berkley, and Lakeville.

If you wish to enroll your child in Head Start, please call 508-675-2151, Ext. 204. An appointment must be made with a Head Start family worker for an interview. The interview will discuss documentation of income, health concerns, developmental and social concerns, family history, and other relevant matters.
