After School Child Care Children Treated To Duck Boat Field Trip

The summer of 2011 brought a great treat for the children enrolled in the CFC After School Child Care Program (ASCC). With funding generously provided by the Fall River Women’s Union, a total of 79 children and CFC program staff were able to spend a day in Hyannis for a land and sea adventure tour done by Cape Cod Duckmobiles.

The Cape Cod Duckmobiles are completely renovated U.S. military amphibious vehicles that provide a unique touring experience of the many interesting sites in the Hyannis area. Once the ASCC group had reached Duckmobile headquarters, they spent the first part of the sunny summer day learning the proper “quacking” techniques needed for their ride through town streets and ocean waters.

The Duck Boats then rode through Hyannis to sites such as the oldest ice cream shop on Cape Cod and the church that the Kennedy family attended. The children thought it was very cool when the Duck Boats drove down a ramp and entered the water. While riding through Harbor waters, the Duck Boats passed pirate ship tours and a large ferry. After a tasty lunch back in Hyannis, the children had time to play some sports games on a large grassy area in town. A bit tired after so many fun-filled activities, most of the ASCC children enjoyed a long nap on the bus ride back to Fall River.
